The Hallstatt lake is 8, 6 square kilometres, and 126 meters deep. It is one of the most mysterious lakes in Austria. A bird?s eye view of the lake reminds one of a Norwegian Fjord. The water is also as cold, even in the height of summer the surface temperature of the water is rarely more than 21 degrees. Hallstatt lake was originally with only lake char; this has changed over the years and meanwhile a wider variety of fish such and is renowned as the best vendace lake in the whole of Austria.
