Detailed directions

We start in the direction of Gosaubach, follow the signs Seekar Runde S362, turn right after about 120m into Gosaubachweg and follow it upstream until we reach Gosauseestraße (km 3.3) after 3.1 km. We turn right into the L291 Gosausseestraße, cross it after about 100m and continue in the direction of Gosauschmied. After about 200m we keep to the left and after another 900m on asphalt we reach the Gasthof Gosauschmied.

If you feel like it, we'll have a quick coffee here, because from now on things are looking up. We turn left into the L291 Gosauseestraße and cross it after about 100m at the bus stop (km 4.2) to reach the way up. It's best to put it in the lightest gear and go up on a short trail section, after about 500m we cross a small waterfall (km 4.7) above the reservoir. For the climbing enthusiasts, here are the entrances of various via ferratas.

Now the journey continues, again slightly downhill and we follow the signs for 1.3 km in the direction of L291 Gosausseestraße (km 5.5). Always stay on the main path, because the junctions are all dead ends. We cross the L291 turning left and continue through the shadow of the mountains on asphalt and paying attention to the traffic. To the right in front of us the Gosau main ridge illuminated by the sun, after 2.1km we reach the Gosaukamm cable car and the barrier we pass. In front of us, the huge panorama opens up with the Dachstein, Lake Gosau and the main ridge of Gosau. Phototime (km7.5).

Now we continue to the left along the lake with probably a lot of pedestrian traffic, but after 700m we leave the lake to pedal to the left up (km 8.2) and we are already back in the solitude of the mountains on gravel. The curves wind their way up the mountain.

After about 4km we have to turn left at the crossroads. Now we follow the forest road with a great view of the Gosau valley and the surrounding mountains for 4.3 km to the front Grubenalm (km 15.5), which is the turning point for the tour (altitude 1350m).

Here are now some variants possible. We can drive about 200m to the top right to the Plankensteinalm, the largest contiguous alpine pasture area in the region, and enjoy our snack there comfortably in the sun on the alpine pasture (altitude 1530 m), or to the rear Grubalm, where a stop is also possible.

Or we turn left following the route, but after 100m turn right up the forest road to place our bikes there and climb up to the Löckenmoos. If the hike to the Löckenmoos is not an option, simply continue following the forest road past the grinding quarry, the Schüttmannalm and after about 2 km turn right on the Schäferalm (km17.8) onto the forest road towards Bad Goisern. We stay on this forest road for about 4.9 km and circle the Leitgebkogel. At the crossroads (km 22.7) we turn left in the direction of Gosau.

Following the contour line, we can already see Gosau through the trees on the right. After about 1.9 km it goes steeply down to the right, between the houses we cross the Gosaubach after 600 m, turn right on the path downstream to reach our starting point of the tour shortly afterwards.

The burgundy mountain bike signage is clearly geographically located. Each waypoint has a unique number, e.g. 40702-0002, which is printed in the lower line of the logo. If you ever have difficulties, you can give this number to the Inner Salzkammergut Tourist Office and we will know where you are.

The QR code in the logo line will take you to a landing page where you will find all the information necessary for a perfect tour day.

Safety guidelines:

The Seekar circuit is a round trip and signposted with the number S362. Tours with 300 numbers have a route length of up to 30km. The indicated travel times are pure net riding times with the E-MTB without breaks such as photo stops, refreshments, etc.

To make the day perfect, here are a few tips that are worth considering before each tour. In addition, be aware that you are moving in the mountains and therefore personal responsibility plays a major role. This applies to the selection of the route to be mastered, the expected weather and one or the other dead spot in which you will not find a mobile phone connection.

Equipment:

Please note that any (E)MTB tours must always be mastered with perfect equipment. Below you will find a few tips on preparation and equipment.

Additional information

In Gosau, all mountain bike tours start at the parking lot at the beach volleyball court. The tours are signposted and numbered.

As new figures on the playing field of mountain and recreational athletes, we e-MTB riders have a special duty to behave appropriately.

In Graubünden, bikers and hikers share the paths. A project that should set a precedent. But this is only possible with mutual respect. Black sheep set us back years.

With common rules of the game, we ensure that the forest will continue to offer a unique recreational and living space as well as a workplace for everyone in the future.
