BergeSeen Trail Stage 11

From the Goiserer Hütte to Gosau

Immediately below the Goiserer Hütte alpine hut, the trail begins its descent toward Gosau at a trail marker. The route heads down the level terrain of mountain pastures, passing several beautiful huts of the Schartenalm meadow, to a trail marker. At this point, the trail continues to descend straight ahead through the trees to a forest road. The route continues downhill along the road for one kilometre (beautiful views of the Dachstein Mountain), turns left and then goes straight on through the forest to the huts of the Iglmoosalm (1206 m) which serve food and drink to visitors. From there the trail continues downhill along a mostly broad path through the shady forest to a small carpark above the community of Ramsau.

The trail then makes a sharp right across a bridge and then continues along a narrow road to the Pass Gschütt Highway. After crossing the highway, the path continues onward to arrive at the protestant church of Gosau.

From Gosau to the Gablonzer Hütte

From the protestant church, the trail ascends to the edge of the forest. From there, the route begins a beautiful ascent along moderately steep terrain through the forest. After crossing a forest road, the trail continues onward through several swampy sections which must be crossed by way of wooden bridges to finally arrive at a forest road. The trail heads left for 500 metres along the forest road.

The path turns right and ascends to the mid-valley station of the Hornspitz ski lift. From there, the route continues along flat terrain to the Falmbergalm. The trail follows a forest road for approximately one kilometre until once again turning to the right. The route then begins a steep ascent to the Gablonzer Hütte alpine hut. At 1522 metres, the hut marks the highest point in this stage. From here, hikers will enjoy a spectacular view of the wild and jagged peaks of the nearby Gosaukamm Mountains and the ‘Vorderer’ Lake Gosau with the Dachstein Mountain just beyond.

From the Gablonzer Hütte to the Gosau-Hintertal

The trail descends moderately steeply across a mountain meadow and then continues to the right down a steep path through a beautiful mountain forest to the Kraugartenalm. It then continues onward to the ‘Vorderer’ Lake Gosau. This section of the trail can also be achieved using the Gosaukamm Cable Car. The mountain station of the cable car is located below the Gablonzer Hütte.

From the ‘Vorderer’ Lake Gosau, the routes heads out of the valley along a hiking trail to the left of the Gosau Stream. The trail passes two carparks and then continues for a short distance along the street. The route heads left once again along a hiking trail and continues until arriving at the Gasthof Gosauschmied inn, marking the end point of this stage to the Gosau-Hintertal.
