Relaxation - Tranquillity – Nature
Holiday at last on Lake Hallstatt! Fancy hiking, rest and relaxation? Then the cosy Schilcherhaus on the Gjaidalm is just the place for you! An old, rustic, simple, cosy mountain cabin purposely “off the beaten track". Here you will find what you have often sought in vain elsewhere ... Relaxation - Tranquility - Nature - Rest! Whether as a rest stop or overnight accommodation, the Schilcherhaus on the Gjaidalm offers rest and relaxation away from the hectic city life.
Idyllic, romantic and rustic mountain hut
Alone the close vicinity to the Krippeneck cable car station (about 10 minutes walk) make the Gjaidalm the ideal starting point for many hikes in the Dachstein hiking world. The beautiful scenic tour from the Schilcherhaus on the Gjadalm to Wiesberghaus and the descent to Hallsattt is recommended for experienced hikers and takes around about 5 hours. Also, even for experienced climbers the ‘Seewandsteig’ is one of the hardest and longest climbs in Austria - an extreme challenge. Luggage transport from the valley to the Gjaidalm is possible with prior reservation. For families with children we recommend the Heilbronn Circular Trail after refreshments for on the Gjaidalm. This starts below the cable car and after about 2.5 hours takes you back to the mountain station on the Kippenstein.
We offer accommodations for up to 110 people in double rooms, family rooms and dorms. In the summertime you can enjoy the breathtaking landscape, go hiking, paragliding, climbing or just sit on the terrace and enjoy life in the sun. We have many typical barnyard animals around the lodge, including horses, pigs, cows, sheep and more.
The Gjaid Alm is even beautiful in the rain. It’s a mystical sight when the fog rolls in over the surrounding mountains. On the way from Obertraun up to the Gjaid Alm, you can stop to visit the ice caves, check out the new "Krippenstein Shark" installation or enjoy the panoramic view from the "Five Fingers" lookout at the top of Krippenstein Mountain.
Adventure world for cavers and mountaineering fanatics
